MANILA, Philippines — Two notable developments in Philippine television have drawn attention from viewers, with Michael V. taking over as the temporary host of GMA-7’s “Family Feud” and the return of ABS-CBN Studios’ “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
MICHAEL V. TAKES OVER FAMILY FEUD
After several years at the helm, Kapuso award-winning actor and television host Dingdong Dantes has temporarily stepped away from GMA-7’s pre-primetime game show “Family Feud,” with Kapuso comedy royalty Michael V. taking over hosting duties.
The change appeared to receive a positive response from viewers, based on the program’s reported television ratings following Michael V.’s debut as host.
According to National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) data, “Family Feud” posted a 6.8% rating on Wednesday, September 24, before increasing to 7.0% on Thursday, September 25.
The figures were higher than the show’s previous 5% to 6% rating range before Dantes temporarily left the program.
Dantes stepped aside from “Family Feud” to focus on his hosting responsibilities for the Kapuso weekend singing reality show “The Voice Kids” and the second season of the Kapuso primetime series “The Master Cutter.”
GANDANG GABI VICE MAKES TV COMEBACK
Meanwhile, the return of the iconic late-night weekend comedy talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice” also generated attention following its comeback on September 13.
The ABS-CBN Studios-produced program recorded a 4.3% rating for its pilot episode, which featured Kapuso actor and television host Alden Richards as its guest.
On September 20, the show registered a 3.2% rating with Kapamilya love team JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, collectively known as JMFyang, as guests.
The reported figures were above the 2.2% to 2.5% rating range previously recorded by the now-defunct Kapuso late-night comedy talk show “TBATS On The Go!”
For its September 27 episode, “Gandang Gabi Vice” is set to welcome Kapamilya singer-songwriter KZ Tandingan and her husband, singer-composer TJ Monterde, as guests.
