QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Actress and television host Kim Chiu has shared the emotional difficulty of taking legal action against her sister, Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, following Lakam’s recent court arraignment.
Addressing the issue, Chiu expressed her distress over the situation while acknowledging that her choice to file a complaint might draw mixed reactions from the public.
“I do not know where to start po. Sobrang nasasaktan po ako,” Kim said in a statement.
“People may have different opinions with my decision, and I understand that.”
While Chiu refrained from going into sub-judice details regarding the pending case, she clarified that the conflict extends beyond monetary issues, as it involves a personal venture launched two years prior intended to secure her future beyond her entertainment career.
“This is about a business which started in 2023, built with years of hard work, sacrifices, and dreams. A business I poured my heart into, hoping it would become my future when the time comes for me to step away from show business,” she said.
According to the television host, the legal action stems from irregularities she and her legal counsel uncovered between January and July 2025.
“There is so much more to this story that I am choosing not to disclose publicly,” she said.
“Not because I do not have a story to tell, but because there is a proper time and place for the truth. For now, I trust and let the legal process take its course.”
Chiu affirmed that she will withhold further public comment to respect court proceedings and allow the judicial system to resolve the matter.
