PASIG CITY, Philippines — The Pasig City local government signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) on Monday, September 28, to expand its local innovation ecosystem and provide broader opportunities for local entrepreneurs and young innovators.
Signed during the Pasig City Youth Innovation Summit (PCYIS) 2026 held at the Astoria Plaza in the Ortigas Business District, the agreements were organized through the city’s Local Economic Development and Investment Office (LEDIO).
The first pact links LEDIO with the Department of Science and Technology–National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) and the Strategic and Collaborative Alliance for Leveraging Ecosystem of Startups (SCALE NCR).
Under this framework, all participating entities will work together to identify key needs and priorities to strengthen the city’s startup environment.
“Kabilang din dito ang pagbibigay ng partner institutions ng technical assistance at kinakailangang resources, gaya ng financial, human, equipment, at facilities support, sa lokal na pamahalaan,” the city government said.
The second agreement was established with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines PYLON Technology Business Incubator (TBI). The institution will supply academic and technical backing—including coaching, mentorship, research guidance, and incubation support—for city-recommended innovators.
“Magbibigay din ang nasabing institusyon ng technical expertise at research support para sa mga programa at polisiya ng lokal na pamahalaan na nakatuon sa innovation at entrepreneurship,” it added.
City officials emphasized that these initiatives underscore Pasig’s commitment to building strong institutional ties while giving young Pasigueños and startup founders direct access to growth resources.
As part of the summit, LEDIO introduced “AGOS” (Accelerating Growth and Opportunities for Startups Pasig), a local initiative designed to assist emerging entrepreneurs in developing early-stage concepts into viable ventures.
The signing ceremony was led by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, alongside DOST-NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen Tresvalles, SCALE NCR President Maria Cristina Ibañez, PUP President Dr. Manuel Muhi, and other city officials.
