PSA OFFERS FREE LRT-2 RIDES FOR NATIONAL ID HOLDERS ON OCT. 1

MANILA, Philippines — National ID holders can avail of free rides along the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) on Thursday, October 1, in line with the kickoff of National Statistics Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced Wednesday.

Speaking at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing, PSA Assistant National Statistician Mark Pascasio noted that the observance aims to emphasize the essential role data plays in shaping government policy and public programs.

“Magkakaroon din ng Libreng Sakay sa LRT. Gagamitin niyo lang yung inyong National ID, pwede na kayo sumakay sa LRT-2 specifically,” Pascasio stated.

In a separate update, the agency clarified that commuters need only present any recognized form of their credential—whether the physical PVC card, the printed paper version, or the Digital National ID—to board for free.

The complimentary rides will run strictly during morning and evening rush hours: from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

As part of the month-long campaign, Pascasio added that the PSA will host an educational webinar series highlighting the application of statistics across various sectors, including tourism development and local governance.
