SINGAPORE — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed People’s Television Network (PTV) General Manager Lino Cayetano as the new head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), while confirming that he has accepted the resignation of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda.
Marcos announced Cayetano’s appointment during his “Kapihan with the Media” press conference in Singapore on Sunday, October 11. Cayetano will take over the communications office following the bypass of the appointment of Acting Communications Secretary Dave Gomez by the Commission on Appointments.
Cayetano, a film and television director, assumed the position of PTV general manager in June 2026, succeeding former Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) executive Malou Choa-Fagar.
Before entering government service, Cayetano served as mayor of Taguig City from 2019 to 2022. He also represented Taguig’s second congressional district from 2013 to 2016.
He previously worked with ABS-CBN Corporation for more than a decade as a director and creative consultant. Cayetano is the younger brother of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano.
His appointment follows Gomez’s stint as acting PCO secretary after the Commission on Appointments bypassed his appointment to the position.
Meanwhile, Marcos confirmed accepting Aguda’s resignation as DICT secretary amid an investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman into alleged ghost connectivity projects.
The President explained that the announcement had been delayed while the administration worked to identify Aguda’s replacement.
“We were withholding it until we will be able to announce his replacement. But the Ombudsman already spilled the beans,” Marcos said.
The leadership changes come as the administration moves to fill key positions in its communications office and information and communications technology department.
