MANILA — Iconic 1990s television sweethearts Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal are reuniting on screen, proving that their chemistry remains as strong as ever in the upcoming afternoon series “Mommy Guard.”

Decades after capturing the hearts of fans as a premier onscreen partnership, Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal are back together for TV5 Entertainment’s upcoming romantic-comedy show. The enduring bond between the duo—affectionately known as “MarJo”—continues to evoke excitement and nostalgia among viewers.

Reflecting on their long-lasting connection, Jolina expressed deep gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support over the years.

“Natutuwa ako na kapag nakikita nila ’yung Marvin-Jolina, ’yung MarJo, talagang nandoon pa rin ’yung saya sa puso nila,” she shared.

She also emphasized their desire to show growth in their collaborative dynamic.

“Siyempre ayaw naming mawala ’yon ni Marvin at gusto rin naming iparamdam sa mga nanunood na ang samahan namin ay nag-e-evolve din,” Jolina explained.

Echoing these sentiments, Marvin highlighted that their genuine mutual affection translates naturally into their work.

“Mahal na mahal namin ang isa’t isa, mapa-personal o trabaho,” Marvin shared. “I guess that’s something na hindi magbabago.”

Despite their strong bond, Marvin admitted having initial doubts before signing on for the new show.

“Sabi ko, ‘kaya pa kaya namin?’ Pero, like I said, I always enjoy working with Jolina so, in the end, nag-yes pa rin ako,” he said.

Jolina shared a similar confidence in their enduring appeal, emphasizing the importance of strong storytelling.

“Ako naman nanininiwala ako na we still can make the partnership work. Ang kailangan lang talaga is good material,” she stated.

In “Mommy Guard,” Marvin portrays Pio, a school principal who crosses paths with Jolina’s character, Tina, following a tense traffic altercation. Their relationship takes a humorous and complicated turn when Tina attempts to enroll her son, Happy—played by Amo Wilding—at Pio’s school.

The star-studded cast also features Dominic Ochoa, Roxanne Guinoo, Susan Africa, and Ruby Ruiz.

“Mommy Guard” is set to premiere on October 19 and will air Mondays to Fridays at 2:30 p.m. across multiple platforms, including Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, TV5, and ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2.
