SOUTHERN LEYTE — The Police Regional Office-8 (PRO-8) has expanded its emergency response campaign to Southern Leyte to improve public access to rapid assistance across the region.
Following its initial rollout in Leyte, the “SAFE Eastern Visayas: Dial 911” initiative aims to enhance coordination among local emergency responders and bring police services closer to residents.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-8 regional director, highlighted that the program demonstrates law enforcement’s dedication to delivering prompt and dependable community support.
“Public service means being ready to respond when people need us most. Through SAFE Eastern Visayas: Dial 911, we want every individual to feel assured that help is accessible and that their safety remains our priority,” he stated.
Authorities are urging the public to utilize the 911 hotline strictly for legitimate emergencies, including crimes, fires, medical crises, road accidents, and natural disasters.
Meanwhile, Cardiño reminded citizens to avoid making prank calls, emphasizing that the emergency network is equipped with an automatic blocking feature for fraudulent attempts.
