MANILA — Actress and television host Kris Aquino has broken her silence on why she initially chose not to address malicious remarks made against her eldest son, Josh Aquino, explaining that she refused to give the podcast hosts the satisfaction of a public spectacle.
The controversy erupted following an episode of the online program “Machong Chismisan” entitled “Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino.” During the broadcast, one of the program’s hosts drew severe online backlash after labeling Josh, who is on the autism spectrum, as “walang kuwenta.”
In a social media statement released on October 16, Kris shared that a trusted friend advised her to withhold any reaction toward individuals whose remarks warranted no validation.
“Many of you may have wondered why I gave no statement to what were irresponsible & uninformed opinions,” she wrote.
She noted that opting for restraint successfully cut off any chance of a prolonged public feud.
“By never stating their names, or my feelings, they didn’t get the word war from me they were expecting,” she added.
Shifting her focus from the controversy, the celebrity mother provided an intimate look into their domestic life, highlighting how Josh assists in looking after her as she continues her battle against multiple autoimmune conditions.
Kris shared that Josh faithfully stands by her during her afternoon rest periods, which often stretch up to four hours. He also coordinates caregiving duties with his younger brother, Bimby, who manages computer tasks during those intervals.
Among the simple acts she cherishes most is Josh offering his shoulder as a comfort pillow.
“And he loves to say: Mama your shoulder’s here. I sleep best with my head resting on Kuya’s shoulder and my arms wrapped around his left arm,” she detailed.
While noting that staying motionless can sometimes prove challenging for Josh, she expressed immense gratitude for his unwavering support and presence during weekdays.
