OMBUDSMAN FILES THREE COUNTS OF GRAFT AGAINST EX-REP. DONG GONZALES OVER ALLEGED CONTRACTOR TIES

MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman has formally lodged three counts of graft against former Pampanga 3rd District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales before the Sandiganbayan.

The charges stem from his suspected involvement as a private contractor while holding public office.

The Judicial and Records Division of the anti-graft court verified the filing of the criminal charges on Friday, October 16. While comprehensive particulars regarding the information have yet to be fully released, the Ombudsman indicated plans to tackle the development during a scheduled press briefing.

Gonzales previously served as the congressional representative for Pampanga’s third district across two separate tenures: from 2007 to 2013, and subsequently from 2016 to 2025.

The legal action follows previous disclosures made in November 2025 by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, who pointed out that the former legislator was being scrutinized under allegations of operating as a “congtractor”.

At the time those initial inquiries came to light, Gonzales maintained that he welcomed any investigation into the matter.

As of press time, the former lawmaker has not yet released a formal statement responding to the newly filed charges.
