MANILA — The local government of Manila is fast-tracking the rehabilitation of 44 community health facilities across the capital, aiming to finish all renovations before the year closes. The ongoing overhaul of the Paltok Health Center in Sampaloc forms part of the city’s broader campaign to modernize medical infrastructure and elevate public health services for local residents.
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso emphasized that the local administration consistently channels a significant portion of its budget toward essential services, prioritizing the Minimum Basic Needs of Manileños such as healthcare, housing, education, and livelihood despite budget constraints.
“Mga atabs, limitado man ang ating resources, malaking bahagi ng ating pondo ang inilalaan natin sa kalusugan. Hindi porke’t pampublikong pasilidad, puwede nang mema-mema lang ang pagkakagawa,” Domagoso stated.
Highlighting the importance of upgrading public infrastructure, the mayor stressed that medical facilities must offer a clean, professional, and dignified environment for both patients and healthcare personnel.
“Gusto natin, maaliwalas para sa ating health workers at komportable para sa mga kababayan nating nagpapagamot,” he added.
Reiterating his administration’s timeline, Domagoso made a firm commitment to finish the upgrade program for all targeted neighborhood clinics.
“Tatapusin kong ayusin ang 44 na health center sa Lungsod ng Maynila,” he vowed.
Beyond neighborhood clinics, Domagoso noted that specialized treatments, such as free angioplasty and angiogram procedures, are readily accessible to constituents at the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, reflecting the city’s comprehensive healthcare framework.
Furthermore, the local chief executive assured the public that city-run medical institutions remain fully prepared to address potential health challenges linked to the El Niño phenomenon, while encouraging residents to practice constant vigilance and precautionary health measures.
