TANGERE POLL SHOWS BASTE, GO AND AQUINO LEADING IN SCENARIO EXCLUDING VP SARA, ROBREDO AND TULFO

MANILA — Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go could divide the political support of the Duterte family if Vice President Sara Duterte faces conviction in a Senate impeachment trial, provided that former Vice President and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Senator Raffy Tulfo sit out the presidential race.

This political outlook emerges from a recent pre-election survey conducted by research firm Tangere between September 30 and October 3, which sampled 1,800 respondents and registered a margin of error of ±2.4%.

Under this specific scenario, Mayor Baste Duterte secured the top spot with a 29% voting preference, closely followed by Senator Go with 26%.

Trailing the frontrunners, Senator Bam Aquino captured third place with 20% of the preference, while Senate President Win Gatchalian secured 10%. Further down the list, Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. earned 5%, and former Philippine National Police chief Nicolas Torre III gathered 2%, with 8% of respondents withholding their choices.

PADILLA TAKES LEAD IN VICE-PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCES

Meanwhile, the hypothetical vice-presidential contest displays a distinct frontrunner, with Senator Robin Padilla maintaining a 10% lead over his closest contender, Senator Erwin Tulfo.

Senator Padilla commanded 29% of voter support, ahead of Senator Tulfo who registered 19%. Senator Risa Hontiveros came in next with an 18% preference.

Rounding out the vice-presidential preferences were Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong with 6% and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon with 5%, while 23% of survey participants opted not to name any candidate.
