ROAD CLOSURES ANNOUNCED IN MANILA FOR ANCOP GLOBAL RUN ON SUNDAY

MANILA — Motorists traveling through the city capital should expect heavy traffic delays as several major thoroughfares will undergo temporary closures starting at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, to facilitate the staging of the ANCOP Global Run.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the scheduled closures are centered around the Quirino Grandstand in Ermita, where the running event will take place.

The affected routes include the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive down to Quirino Avenue, the westbound lane of T.M. Kalaw Avenue spanning from M.H. del Pilar Street to Roxas Boulevard, as well as P. Burgos Avenue near Victoria Street, Katigbak Drive, and South Drive.

To manage the flow of vehicles and mitigate gridlocks, traffic authorities have laid out specific re-routing schemes:

  • Trucks and trailer trucks coming from the Delpan area heading south on Roxas Boulevard must turn left onto P. Burgos Avenue and proceed straight through Finance Road toward their destination.
  • Vehicles originating from P. Burgos Avenue aiming to access the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard are instructed to turn right onto Bonifacio Drive instead.
  • Motorists driving from the Jones, MacArthur, and Quezon bridges who wish to use southbound Roxas Boulevard are advised to pass through Lagusnilad.
  • Traffic moving along the westbound lane of Kalaw Avenue toward southbound Roxas Boulevard will be required to turn left onto M.H. del Pilar Street.
  • Travelers heading to the Rizal Park Hotel are directed to utilize the Zipper Lane.
  • Visitors bound for the Manila Hotel may also access a designated Zipper Lane.
  • Automobiles proceeding from United Nations Avenue toward southbound Roxas Boulevard must turn left onto the Roxas Boulevard Service Road.

With significant gridlocks anticipated in the area, the MPD strongly urged all drivers and commuters to plan their trips ahead of time and take alternative routes to minimize travel disruptions.
