SANTA CRUZ, LAGUNA — The provincial government of Laguna is ramping up its defensive measures against the looming threat of a severe “Super El Niño,” placing heavy emphasis on disaster resilience, swift emergency response, and proactive community assistance.

Laguna Governor Sol Aragones recently gathered key disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) executives alongside municipal and city representatives across the province. The high-level meeting aimed to evaluate existing safety protocols and foster tighter synchronization among various local government units (LGUs).

Talks during the assembly centered on evaluating local capabilities to manage crisis situations, ensuring the continuous delivery of medical services, and preparing relief packages for citizens vulnerable to prolonged droughts and related climate hazards.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Aragones stressed that comprehensive planning and unified action among local administrations are vital to softening the blow of the extreme weather event.

”Coordinated efforts and adequate preparation among local governments would be crucial in mitigating the potential effects of the weather phenomenon,” Aragones said.

Provincial authorities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local units in refining contingency frameworks, guaranteeing that vital resources and aid remain fully accessible if environmental conditions worsen.
