MANILA’S FIRST TOURISM EXPO PULLS IN THOUSANDS OF VISITORS AND MILLIONS IN SALES

MANILA — The inaugural My Manila Tourism Expo successfully wrapped up a three-day run in Intramuros, drawing 13,702 attendees and generating ₱5 million in gross sales as part of the local government’s push to highlight the capital’s rich culture and businesses.

Staged from September 25 to 27 at the Foro de Intramuros, the event marked the formal launch of the “Manila, My Manila” tourism campaign, which seeks to attract both domestic and international travelers to the city’s historical sites, culinary spots, and creative hubs.

The Department of Tourism, Culture, and Arts of Manila (DTCAM), spearheaded by Director Cristal Bagatsing, pointed to the ₱5 million in sales as a major milestone for the exhibition.

The gathering featured a wide array of hotels, eateries, cultural organizations, and local creators, with free admission offered to registered guests across its daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. schedule.

Activities were structured around 11 distinct themes—ranging from heritage and gastronomy to nightlife, wellness, and adventure—alongside live cultural showcases, interactive seminars, and historical presentations.

Among the participating merchants, Liberty Foodmart captured the Best Overall Booth honor, trailed by Escolta Fub and The Bayleaf Intramuros.

The expo formed a core part of DTCAM’s wider cultural calendar, which features 71 events celebrating local heritage and religious traditions under the backing of Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso.

Bagatsing expressed gratitude to the various municipal departments that collaborated to bring the cultural showcase to life.

“Ang turismo ng Maynila ay kuwento po nating lahat dahil ang bawat isa sa atin ay bahagi ng Maynila. Your Manila and My Manila!” Bagatsing said.
