President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that motorists can use the newly opened two-kilometer segment of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela City without paying toll fees until the end of the year.
Marcos formally opened the NLEX-C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A on Thursday, October 29. The newly inaugurated stretch links Mindanao Avenue in Valenzuela to the Quirino Highway in Quezon City, serving as a component of the broader 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink project that eventually connects Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue.

Although the completed portion spans only two kilometers, the President noted that it will significantly ease travel times by allowing drivers to bypass much longer alternative routes.
”Kagaya ng mga ginagawa natin sa ibang lugar, sa ibang mga daanan na bagongbukas dahil kaya pa naman, pinagbibigyan tayo, libre ang pagdaan dito ngayon hanggang end of the year,” Marcos said.
The administration expedited the opening of the new roadway ahead of schedule to ease traffic congestion and assist motorists traveling during the upcoming Undas holidays, commemorating All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

President Marcos underscored that infrastructure development remains a priority to improve national transportation efficiency, assist commuters, and boost workforce productivity by minimizing time lost in heavy traffic.
