Vice President Sara Duterte remains the leading potential candidate for the 2028 presidential race, securing a substantial lead in a recent survey conducted by the research firm WR Numero despite facing an ongoing impeachment trial and corruption allegations.
According to the poll, which surveyed 1,225 respondents between October 7 and 13 with a margin of error of ±2.6%, Duterte pulled in 42% of the voting preference support. Her rating is nearly triple that of her closest rival, former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, who came in second with 16%.
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, the Vice President’s brother, placed third with 6.9%, closely followed by Senator Raffy Tulfo at 6.7%. The remaining 28.4% of voter preference went to other potential contenders who were not individually named by the research firm.
Back in February, Duterte officially declared her intent to run for president in 2028. Her brother Baste has been floated as a potential alternative candidate for their political camp should the impeachment court ultimately find the Vice President guilty and bar her from holding public office.
Both Robredo and Tulfo have previously denied having any plans to seek a higher national office in the upcoming 2028 elections.
