The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has issued a safety warning cautioning jobseekers against a deceptive recruitment ad circulating on social media, which was recently flagged by the agency’s intelligence division.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. stated that the fraudulent post, shared by a social media page called “Nationwide Job Openings PH,” falsely advertised job openings for correction officers and technical personnel. Interested applicants were directed to click a link in the comments section, which led to a convincing yet unauthorized webpage detailing fake requirements, application procedures, deadlines, and contact information.
Investigations revealed that the shortened URL, [https://tinyurl.com/new-bucor-job](https://tinyurl.com/new-bucor-job), was flagged as a phishing link by VirusTotal. The link ultimately redirects users to an unofficial domain, shopcredit.xyz/bucor-hiring-2026/, which displays fabricated vacancies offering monthly salaries ranging from ₱35,783 to ₱74,879.
“We advise the public, particularly job applicants, not to click the link, submit personal documents, provide account credentials, or make payments through unverified websites,” said Catapang.
“The use of an unofficial domain and the phishing classification raise concerns that applicants may be exposed to credential theft, identity theft, unauthorized collection of personal information, or financial fraud,” Catapang added.
Although there is currently no definitive evidence that personal data has been breached, Catapang emphasized that the link should be treated with extreme caution.
He reminded all jobseekers to exclusively check BuCor’s official communication channels and platforms for legitimate employment announcements.
