PRIVATE VEHICLES TEMPORARILY ALLOWED ON PORTION OF EDSA BUSWAY AMID ROAD REPAIRS

Private vehicles are temporarily permitted to use a section of the EDSA Busway spanning from Nepa Q-Mart to Boni Avenue starting Monday, November 2, to help manage traffic during ongoing road rehabilitation, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced.

The temporary arrangement was announced following an inspection of the rehabilitated EDSA Busway Guadalupe Station conducted alongside Public Works Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

“So, today right after natin, siguro mga 4:30 a.m., bago mag-alas singko bubukusan na ito mula ng Nepa Q-Mart hanggang dito kung nasaan tayo ngayon mga bandang Boni,” Dizon said in an ambush interview.

“Pagkatapos ng reblocking, i-aspalto pa ito para makinis. Pero kahit na ‘yung mga barrier, pinaurong, kagaya noong ginawa dati ni Sec. Banoy at DPWH nu’ng bago kami nagpalit, sa bandang Monumento, i-oopen namin ‘yung busway sa private vehicles. So habang hindi pa natatapos mula Nepa-Q-Mart hanggang dito sa Boni, makakadaan ang private vehicles dito,” he added.

According to Dizon, the temporary scheme is expected to remain in place for approximately two weeks while asphalt laying and finishing works are completed, after which the busway will revert to its exclusive use by public utility buses.

Meanwhile, Public Works Secretary Giovanni Lopez reported that the agency has finished reblocking roughly 990 square meters of intermittent sections along the busway, utilizing a one-day concrete curing technology to accelerate the repair timeline.
