OPM LEGEND REY VALERA LAUNCHES SIX-CITY U.S. CONCERT TOUR

Iconic Filipino singer-songwriter Rey Valera is bringing his decades-long musical legacy to the United States through a six-city concert tour titled “Istorya ni Rey Valera: Live in USA.”

The tour gives overseas Filipino communities the opportunity to experience his timeless classics live while also supporting an upcoming fundraising initiative, though organizers have yet to announce the specific beneficiary.

The concert series commenced on November 1 at the 19th Century Club in Oak Park, Illinois. Valera’s upcoming stops include:

  • Portland, Oregon: The Old Church Concert Hall on November 6
  • Sterling Heights, Michigan: Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts on November 7
  • Los Angeles, California: First Unitarian Church on November 13
  • Tampa, Florida: Bayanihan Center for the Performing Arts on November 15
  • Woodside, New York: The Palace Queens on November 17

Valera remains a pillar of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), celebrated both as a solo recording artist and a prolific composer. His legendary discography includes major hits such as “Naaalala Ka,” “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “Walang Kapalit,” “Kung Kailangan Mo Ako,” “Malayo Pa ang Umaga,” and “Ako si Superman.”

He is equally renowned for writing breakout tracks for other prominent Filipino artists, including “Mr. DJ” and “Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko”—which helped launch Sharon Cuneta’s recording career—alongside Rico J. Puno’s “Sorry Na, Puwede Ba” and “Daigdig ng Alaala.”

Valera’s enduring influence on Filipino culture was also celebrated in the 2023 biographical film Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko (The Music of Rey Valera).

Presented by Dulay-Roy Enterprises LLC, the U.S. tour is mounted in partnership with Philippine Airlines, MC Aesthetics, Nexus Collaboration, and MTS Law.
