Jacob Paolo Ang, the youngest son of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and CEO Ramon S. Ang, has taken on a larger role within the conglomerate’s corporate empire after being elected to the board of directors of Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI).
According to a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange (SMC), Ang will fill the board vacancy left by the passing of Leo Alvez, effective November 4. In addition to his directorship, he has been appointed as a member of the board’s Corporate Governance Committee and Executive Compensation Committee.
Growing Leadership in Automotive and Conglomerate Sectors
Before stepping into his new position at GSMI, Ang built a strong leadership track record within SMC’s automotive ventures. A former championship kart racer, he serves as the president of BMW Philippines (SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation), overseeing strategy and operations for the brand’s exclusive local distributorship.
He is also a director and the chief planning officer of Velocita Motors Inc., the official importer and distributor of Ferrari supercars in the Philippines, operating out of its flagship facility in Greenhills, San Juan City. Alongside these responsibilities, Ang works closely with his father as an executive assistant at SMC.
Expanding Family Legacy at SMC
Ang is the latest among Ramon S. Ang’s children to assume major leadership roles within the family’s business empire:
- John Paul Ang: Eldest brother, currently serving as the president and chief operating officer of SMC.
- Cecile Ang: Serves as a vice president at New NAIA Corporation, leads the planning and design for the New Manila International Airport, and chairs the San Miguel Foundation.
- Jacqueline Ang: Serves as vice president for procurement and recently joined the board of directors of Petron Corp.
- Monica Ang-Mercado: Serves as the chief finance officer of San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc.
