“AMIHAN” TO BRING LIGHT RAINS TO PARTS OF LUZON, EASTERLIES AFFECTING REST OF THE COUNTRY

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Luzon will experience the prevailing effects of the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as the Amihan, within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its Thursday forecast.

Under the influence of the monsoon, the Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies accompanied by light rains. Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of the Cagayan Valley can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

At the same time, weather systems driven by the easterlies will bring cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms to several areas, specifically the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, the Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

The rest of the country will generally see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA reported that wind conditions will remain light to moderate across the entire country, accompanied by slight to moderate coastal waters nationwide.
