EASTERLIES TO BRING RAINS TO BICOL, SIX OTHER AREAS OVER THE WEEKEND

MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and scattered rain showers are expected to affect the Bicol Region and six other areas over the weekend due to the prevailing easterlies.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the affected regions include Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and Davao Oriental.

The state weather bureau has warned residents in these areas against potential flash floods and landslides triggered by moderate to heavy downpours.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila will also experience the influence of the easterlies, though conditions will remain relatively mild with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers.

In Northern Luzon, the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as the amihan, is bringing cloudy skies and light rains to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora, though without any significant impact. Similar light conditions are expected over the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

PAGASA is likewise monitoring a tropical depression currently located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), sitting roughly 2,865 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The system packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour, and is moving northwestward at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
