QUIMBO URGES MARIKINA RESIDENTS TO MONITOR ₱742M DISTRICT INFRA PROJECTS

MARIKINA CITY, Philippines — Marikina City 2nd District Representative Miro Quimbo has called on his constituents to actively monitor ₱742.32 million worth of proposed infrastructure projects slated for the district under the 2027 national budget.

Quimbo, chairperson of the House Committee on Ways and Means, emphasized that community oversight is essential to ensuring proper implementation and preventing substandard construction or fraudulent “ghost” projects.

To facilitate transparency, the lawmaker published an online breakdown of the proposed projects, complete with their respective budget allocations and page numbers in the House General Appropriations Bill.

“Mahalaga sa akin na alam ninyo, mga ka-D2, kung saan nakalaan ang pondo para sa mga proyekto sa ating distrito. Karapatan ninyong malaman at masuri ang mga ito,” Quimbo said.

“At gusto ko rin na sama-sama nating bantayan ang tama at maayos na pagpapatupad ng bawat proyekto,” he added.

The proposed budget heavily targets flood-control measures, pumping stations, and creek rehabilitation across the district. Key allocations include ₱215 million for three improvement initiatives along Tumana Creek, ₱45 million for the two-phase rehabilitation of Champaca 1 Creek in Barangay Fortune, and ₱32.493 million for the construction of the Bayabas Pumping Station in Barangay Nangka.

Other notable allocations feature ₱44.826 million for improvements to Balanti Creek in Barangay Concepcion Dos and ₱22 million for the rehabilitation of Park 23 Creek in Barangay Marikina Heights.

The initiative follows a similar transparency effort last year, where the district published its proposed infrastructure projects for 2026. Quimbo stressed that public accountability remains a fundamental responsibility of governance.

“We do this because it is our duty and because our constituents deserve to know where their taxes go,” Quimbo said.

“Samahan ninyo ako sa pagbantay sa mga proyektong ito. Siguraduhin nating tama ang pagkakagawa at walang ghost projects dito sa ating distrito,” he concluded.
