SENATOR IMEE MARCOS REPORTEDLY EYEING SENATE PRESIDENCY IN 20TH CONGRESS

Aside from Senate President Chiz Escudero and former Senate President Tito Sotto, another contender may be stepping into the race to lead the Senate in the upcoming 20th Congress — Senator Imee Marcos.

In an interview on Sa Totoo Lang on One PH and True FM 105.9, Senator Win Gatchalian confirmed that Senator Marcos has expressed interest in running for the Senate’s top post.

“Si Senator Imee (Marcos) ay nagpahiwatig rin siya na kakandidato rin sya bilang Senate President,” Gatchalian revealed.

Although Gatchalian admitted he has already chosen a candidate to support for the Senate presidency, he declined to name the individual publicly.

“I already have someone in mind, personally,” he added.

As of this writing, Senator Marcos’ camp has not issued an official statement confirming her candidacy for Senate President.

Marcos, the sister of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is a known ally of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The 20th Congress is set to convene on July 28, the same day President Marcos delivers his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
