Justice Secretary Boying Remulla confirmed that businessman Atong Ang and his former partner, actress Gretchen Barretto, are now officially considered suspects in the high-profile case of the missing “sabungeros” (cockfighting enthusiasts).
This development comes after whistleblower Julie Patidongan, alias “Totoy,” accused Ang of masterminding the disappearances, also linking Barretto to the case.
“They will be included. Because they were named, then we will have to include them as suspects,” Remulla stated.
He added, “That will be evaluated by our group of fiscals, who will be assigned to evaluate all the evidence so that we will know what cases to be filed properly.”
Ang has denied the allegations, claiming he is innocent and that Totoy is attempting to extort ₱300 million from him with the help of an accomplice.
