REP. LEILA DE LIMA FILES ‘ANTI-EJK ACT’ IN HER FIRST FEW WEEKS IN CONGRESS

Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Representative Leila de Lima wasted no time during her first few weeks in Congress, filing House Bill 1432, also known as the “Anti-Extra Judicial Killings (EJK) Act of 2025.”

The proposed legislation seeks to prevent unlawful killings and ensure accountability from government officials involved in such acts.

In her bill, De Lima highlighted the thousands of lives lost during the controversial war on drugs under former President Rodrigo Duterte—her long-time political adversary.

Their political feud escalated into legal battles, with De Lima being imprisoned for nearly seven years over drug-related charges, which the court eventually dismissed.

De Lima now returns to the legislature with a renewed push for justice, while Duterte remains in detention at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged crimes against humanity.
