
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Executive Committee has officially announced the first four entries selected for the 51st edition of the festival during its grand launch themed “New Era for Philippine Cinema.”
Chosen from the script submission category, the first four films are:
*“Call Me Mother” – starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, directed by Jun Robles Lana, and produced by ABS-CBN Film Productions (Star Cinema), The IdeaFirst Company, and VIVA Films.
*“Manila’s Finest” – top-billed by Piolo Pascual, directed by Rae Red, from Cignal TV Inc. and MQuest Ventures.
*“Reconnect” – starring Carmina Villarroel, Zoren Legaspi, Gerald Anderson, Alexa Miro, and Gloria Diaz, directed by Jade Castro, from Reality MM Studios.
*“Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins” – featuring Ivana Alawi, Dustin Yu, Carla Abellana, Manilyn Reynes, Richard Gutierrez, Janice de Belen, Loisa Andalio, Ysabel Ortega, Elijah Alejo, Fyang Smith, JM Ibarra, Kaila Estrada, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, Ashley Ortega and Ryan Bang, directed by Shugo Praico, Joey de Guzman, and Ian Loreños, under Regal Entertainment.
The second batch of entries—based on finished film submissions—will be announced in September.
The 2025 MMFF officially opens in cinemas nationwide on December 25, Christmas Day.
