SP ESCUDERO LEADS LAUNCH OF NEW “GALLERY OF LEGACY” AHEAD OF 20TH CONGRESS

Senate President Chiz Escudero spearheaded the unveiling of the Senate’s new “Gallery of Legacy” on Monday, July 21, exactly one week before the opening of the 20th Congress and the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on July 28.

The gallery showcases portraits of the 24 senators who will comprise the 20th Congress.

It stands as a symbolic recognition of the institution’s continuity and its members’ responsibility to serve the nation.

Those who will comprise the 20th Congress in the Senate include:

  • Senator Bam Aquino (KNP)
  • Senator Alan Peter Cayetano (Ind.)

  • Senator JV Ejercito (NPC)
  • Senator Win Gatchalian (NPC)
  • Senator Bong Go (PDP-Laban)
  • Senator Risa Hontiveros (Akbayan)
  • Senator Panfilo Lacson (Ind.)
  • Senator Lito Lapid (NPC)
  • Senator Loren Legarda (NPC)
  • Senator Rodante Marcoleta (Ind.)

On the same day as the SONA, the 24 lawmakers are expected to vote on the new Senate leadership—choosing between current Senate Paresident Chiz Escudero and former Senate President Tito Sotto.

The majority and minority blocs will also be formed following the decision.
