TRILLANES ACCUSES ROBREDO OF OPPOSING DUTERTE SURRENDER TO ICC

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has once again taken a swipe at former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo.

In an interview on One News’ Storycon, Trillanes claimed that Robredo was against surrendering former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) had she won the presidency in the 2022 elections.

Duterte is currently detained at Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands, facing charges of crimes against humanity before the ICC.

“During the course of the campaign, they said their position on the ICC was that they would not recognize its jurisdiction and that they would not surrender Digong to the ICC if Leni became president,” Trillanes said.

The former senator further alleged that there was a “secret alliance” between Robredo and Vice President Sara Duterte, daughter of the former president.

He also claimed that then-senatorial campaign manager Bam Aquino had allegedly asked him to delay the release of the warrant of arrest against Duterte.

Former Robredo spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez refuted Trillanes’ claims, reminding him that Duterte’s daughter had been a vocal critic of Robredo.

“Sara Duterte herself attacked Leni Robredo several times, calling her fake VP, giving space to the allegations that there was massive fraud in the 2016 vice presidential elections,” Gutierrez told The Big Story on One News.

Robredo has yet to comment on Trillanes’ accusations. Trillanes was part of Robredo’s senatorial slate during the 2022 elections.
