Senators Bong Go and Raffy Tulfo are emerging as the top contenders in the race for vice president in the 2028 national elections, according to the latest survey conducted by WR Numero Research Firm.
The poll, conducted from July 29 to August 6 — a week after President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address — shows Go in the lead with 16.2%, closely followed by Tulfo with 14.9%.
Senator Bam Aquino, who recently returned to politics, is being considered a “dark horse” after securing 8.4% support despite his recent comeback.
The top 11 possible candidates for vice president are:
- Senator Bong Go – 16.2%
- Senator Raffy Tulfo – 14.9%
- Senator Bam Aquino – 8.4%
- Senator Robinhood Padilla – 7.7%
- Former Senator Grace Poe – 6.8%
- Senate President Chiz Escudero – 5.9%
- Senator Imee Marcos – 4.5%
- Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros – 4.3%
- Former Senator Manny Pacquiao – 1.8%
- House Speaker Martin Romualdez – 1.4%
- Senator Win Gatchalian – 0.4%
Around 23.6% of respondents remain undecided, while 4.2% named choices not included in WR Numero’s list.
Aquino currently leads in the National Capital Region, where Tulfo and Escudero are in a close fight for second. Tulfo dominates Balance Luzon, followed by Go, Aquino, and Poe. Go has a strong lead in the Visayas, with Aquino, Tulfo, and Hontiveros trailing. In Mindanao — the Duterte family’s stronghold — Go leads by a wide margin, followed by Padilla, Tulfo, and Poe.
Political analysts note that while the “Tulfo” brand remains strong, both Go and Aquino could see their numbers rise given their strong performance in the 2025 midterm senatorial elections, where Go and Aquino placed first and second, respectively.
