‘MAHIYA KAYO’: MAGALONG STANDS FIRM AGAINST CALLS FOR PUBLIC APOLOGY

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” Magalong has made it clear he has no plans to apologize to members of the House of Representatives, despite demands from several lawmakers for a public apology after his revelations allegedly dragged the entire chamber into controversy.

This comes after Magalong’s expose claiming that some congressmen were involved in questionable government projects, which he described as a “moro-moro” or a sham investigation by the House.

Speaking on One Balita Pilipinas on One PH, Magalong stood his ground:
“Unang una, hindi naman na ako dapat mag-apologize eh, in fact sila dapat mag-apologize sa ginagawa nila sa taumbayan eh,” he said in a sharp retort.

He added:
“Kaya nga sila sinabihan ng ‘mahiya kayo.’ Diba dapat senyales na ‘yon na dapat sila mag-apologize.”

Magalong further stressed that lawmakers demanding an apology know exactly which of their colleagues are implicated.
“Pangalawa, alam naman nila kung sino sa mga kasama nila eh. Ulitin ko uli ano, alam ko na hindi lahat, marami matitino dyan sa Kongreso pero sila kapwa nilang Kongresista, kilala nila kung sino may kalokohan dyan,” he said.

The Baguio mayor also questioned the credibility of the House to conduct any probe into the anomalous flood control projects, pointing out that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. himself addressed them during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), telling them to “mahiya naman kayo.”
