Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto, on his 77th birthday, confirmed that he has received his salary for the first two months of his fifth Senate term—amounting to ₱471,652.80.
In a social media post, Sotto said he is donating the entire amount to the scholarship program under his office to support deserving students.
“Natanggap ko na ang aking unang dalawang buwang sweldo,” he wrote.
The veteran lawmaker continued, “Gaya ng aking ipinangako noong kampanya, ibibigay ko ito sa mga nangangailangan ng pinansyal na tulong, partikular sa larangan ng edukasyon.”
One of Sotto’s signature pledges during the campaign was his vow not to personally take home his salary, but instead redirect it to help underprivileged Filipino students pursue education.
