SOTTO READY TO FACE SENATE BLUE RIBBON ON FLOOD CONTROL ANOMALIES

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said he is prepared to appear before the Senate Committee on Accountability, Public Officers and Investigations, or the Blue Ribbon Committee, if summoned in connection with anomalous flood control projects involving businesswoman Sarah Discaya, his former rival in the 2025 midterm elections.

In an interview, Sotto clarified that he has not yet received any formal invitation but stressed that attendance is mandatory if the Senate requires it.

“Wala namang invitation sakin sa ngayon,” Sotto said.

He added, “Kahit sino naman po, hindi naman yan kung gusto o hindi. Kapag sila nagpatawag, required po yun.”

The mayor said the Pasig City LGU is conducting its own parallel investigation and vowed full cooperation with the Senate to ensure accountability.

“Dapat managot ang dapat managot. Whether government official, contractor, suppliers, career officials. Hindi pwedeng pagkatapos ng ilang buwan tatahimik na lang ang issue at magkakalimutan tayo,” he stressed.

Sotto declined to comment on the Bureau of Customs’ recent raid of luxury cars linked to Discaya.

Discaya herself appeared at the second Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing, where she admitted to owning nine construction firms that bagged billions worth of flood control projects nationwide.
