SOTTO CALLS OUT DISCAYA COUPLE FOR “LIES,” TAX VIOLATIONS IN HOUSE HEARING

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto bared tax deficiencies and multiple violations allegedly committed by companies owned by spouses Sarah and Curlee “Pacifico” Discaya during the House Committee on Infrastructure hearing on Tuesday, September 9.

Sarah Discaya, who ran for mayor in the 2025 midterm elections, was defeated by Sotto in his successful bid for a third and final term.

“Marami po silang violations, recently they have been… Mr. Discaya has been recently convicted of 2 counts of Building Code violations so medyo notorious po ito,” Sotto told lawmakers.

Sotto warned both legislators and the public not to easily believe the Discayas, describing them as “notorious liars.”

“Sa statement, sa sworn statement po nila ay 2-3% lang daw ang kinikita nila sa bawat kontrata, obvious na obvious naman po na kasinungalingan ito,” he added.

The mayor also revealed that Curlee Discaya had attempted to arrange a meeting with him through a “common friend.”

“Hindi ko alam exactly (ang dahilan) kasi hindi naman natuloy yung meeting pero may nabanggit doon na ‘state witness,’” Sotto said.

It will be recalled that the Discaya couple had earlier offered to serve as “state witnesses” in the government’s corruption probes.

Meanwhile, Curlee Discaya clarified his earlier mention of House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Monday.

“Hindi po ako nagkaroon ng anumang klaseng transaksyon sa kanila, kaya po nabanggit yung mga pangalan na ‘yon dahil yun po ang madalas na sinasabi ng mga kausap ko po na mga pulitiko,” Discaya explained.

The Discayas had alleged that Romualdez and Co were among those receiving a 25% kickback from government flood control projects.
