ABS-CBN TARGETS PROFITABILITY IN 18 MONTHS, SHIFTS FOCUS TO GLOBAL CONTENT PRODUCTION

After years of industry challenges, ABS-CBN Corporation is now on track toward reaching profitability within the next 18 months.

This was confirmed by ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak during the network’s recent virtual stockholders meeting.

Katigbak attributed the projected recovery to the continuous success of the company’s content across film, television, and live events—highlighting box-office hits such as Hello Love Again, And The Breadwinner Is…, Un/Happy For You, and My Love Will Make You Disappear. He also cited the strong performance of shows like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, It’s Showtime, and Pilipinas Got Talent, along with successful concerts from BINI and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

With the entertainment landscape evolving rapidly, Katigbak emphasized ABS-CBN’s shift toward becoming a global content powerhouse.

“We are preparing for a future where television is no longer at the center of the Philippine entertainment universe,” he said, noting the company’s continued commitment to its mission of serving the Filipino people.

Katigbak also confirmed that ABS-CBN has no plans to reapply for a new 25-year legislative franchise, instead focusing on content creation and strategic partnerships with other networks including GMA, TV5, ALLTV, A2Z, and Prime Media Holdings.
