DreamWorks Animation is set to release its first feature centered on Filipino culture, Forgotten Island, showcasing a star-studded lineup of Filipino and international talent.
Leading the voice cast are Lea Salonga, H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, and Jo Koy.

The story follows Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), two high school graduates preparing for different futures, whose lives take a sudden turn when they are transported to Nakali, a mystical island filled with creatures from Filipino folklore.

Along their journey, they meet Raww, a weredog voiced by Dave Franco, and face the island’s most feared entity, “The Dreaded Manananggal” voiced by Salonga.

The film’s trailer showcases rich cultural elements, including the aswang, a jeepney bearing the word “Mabuhay,” a bird reminiscent of the Ibong Adarna, and a portal inspired by the sun from the Philippine flag—highlighting a strong Filipino identity woven into the narrative.

Also joining the cast are Jenny Slate and Ronny Chieng. The film is written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, and produced by Mark Swift—the creative team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
Distributed by Universal Pictures, Forgotten Island is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on September 23.
