“I’MPERFECT” WINS BEST PICTURE AT 51ST MMFF AWARDS

The romance-drama “I’mPerfect” by Nathan Studios led the winners at the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal, winning Best Picture during the awards night on December 27 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.

The inclusive film, which tells the story of a romantic relationship between two adults with down syndrome, also took home Best Actress for Krystel Go and Best Ensemble.

“I’mPerfect” was followed by “UnMarry” as 2nd Best Picture, while “Manila’s Finest” and “Call Me Mother” tied for 3rd Best Picture.

Vice Ganda won Best Actor for “Call Me Mother,” and Tom Rodriguez earned Best Supporting Actor for “UnMarry.” Odette Khan won Best Supporting Actress for “Bar Boys: After School.”

Other major awards included Best Director for Jeffrey Jeturian of “UnMarry,” Best Cinematography, Production Design, Sound, and Musical Score for “Manila’s Finest,” and Best Original Theme Song for “Sandalan” by Vehnee Saturno, performed by Piolo Pascual.

The festival also recognized Gender Sensitivity Award to “Call Me Mother,” FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence to “Bar Boys: After School,” and Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award to “Manila’s Finest.”

MMFF additionally released new Hall of Fame awardees, including Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo for Best Actress and Ericson Navarro for Best Production Design.
