It’s that time of the year again—Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) season is just around the corner.
On Sunday, July 6, the Metro Manila Film Festival committee and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officially announced that the first batch of official entries for the 51st MMFF will be revealed on Tuesday, July 8.
The announcement will coincide with the grand launch of the festival’s 51st year—marking a fresh chapter following its milestone 50th edition last year.
Sources say that several major production houses have once again submitted their entries, including regular participants such as Star Cinema, MQuest Ventures, GMA Pictures, Regal Entertainment, VIVA Films, M-Zet Productions, APT Entertainment, Imus Productions, and other major and independent producers.
In last year’s festival, And The Breadwinner Is… by Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company topped the box office, followed by Green Bones from GMA Pictures and The Kingdom—a collaboration between M-Zet Productions, MQuest Ventures, and APT Entertainment.
The latter two also bagged the Best Picture and Second Best Picture awards, respectively.
The 51st MMFF will run from December 25, 2025 (Thursday) to January 7, 2026 (Wednesday).
The prestigious awards night is set for December 27, 2025 (Saturday).
