Actress Nadine Lustre is taking on a regal new role — that of a beauty queen — in her upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Call Me Mother.
In an interview on TFC’s Are You G?, Nadine revealed that she underwent pageant training to prepare for the role.

“I’ve done a lot of research when it comes to being a beauty queen. Research and I’ve done a few days of training, because my character in the film is a beauty queen and it’s very important for me to know about the industry and about my character as well,” she shared.
Part of her preparation, Nadine added, also involved strict fitness routines since her character competes in actual pageants.
“A lot of preparations too when it comes to fitness because eventually, you know, in the film I would have scenes wherein I am actually competing,” she said.
The actress admitted that one of the most challenging aspects of portraying a beauty queen was maintaining the poise and posture expected of one.
“I would say the trickiest part of my role is that every time I’m on set or every time we’re filming or shooting a scene, my posture needs to be different, and the thing is I’m used to… I’m hunched all the time. But in the movie, I have to be upright and beauty queen posture, so it’s kind of tricky. It’s very challenging because I always have to remember,” Nadine explained.
Call Me Mother also marks Nadine’s reunion with Vice Ganda, a decade after they first worked together in the 2015 MMFF blockbuster Beauty and the Bestie.

The film marks their MMFF reunion project, a decade after they last worked together in the 2015 top-grossing hit Beauty and the Bestie.

During an episode of It’s Showtime in July, Nadine expressed her excitement about reuniting with the Unkabogable Star. “I’m so, so excited na makatrabaho ka ulit after 10 years. I already know that this reunion will be very, very special,” she said.
The film is co-produced by ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema), The IdeaFirst Company, and VIVA Films, and will be part of the 51st edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival this December.
