7 IN 10 FILIPINOS SUPPORT CAYETANO’S CALL FOR SNAP ELECTIONS — TANGERE SURVEY

Seven in ten Filipinos support Senate Minority Floor Leader Alan Peter Cayetano’s proposal for all elected government officials — from the President down to members of the House of Representatives — to step down and hold a “snap election”, according to a survey conducted by Tangere Research Firm.

Based on Tangere’s nationwide survey conducted from October 6 to 7 with 1,500 respondents and a ±2.48% margin of error, 70% of Filipinos said they agree with Cayetano’s call for a snap election to elect new national leaders.

In a hypothetical presidential race, the survey showed that Vice President Sara Duterte and former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo would be the frontrunners if snap elections were held today. Duterte garnered 43%, while Robredo received 23%. Senator Raffy Tulfo came in third with 11%.

For the vice-presidential race, Senator Bong Go and Senator Bam Aquino emerged as the top contenders, with Go getting 30% and Aquino 20%.

With these figures, the potential tandems of Duterte–Go and Robredo–Aquino appear poised for a head-to-head matchup if the proposal for snap elections pushes through — possibly shaping the political landscape ahead of the 2028 national elections.

Meanwhile, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto topped the list of potential senatorial winners under the same survey.

Other notable names who made it to the “winning circle” include:

  • Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso
  • Former Senator Grace Poe
  • Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte
  • Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte
  • Broadcaster Ben “Bitag” Tulfo
  • Former Senator and ex-DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara
  • Akbayan Partylist Representative Chel Diokno
  • Former Senator Manny Pacquiao
  • Former DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos
  • Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte
  • Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong
  • DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian
  • Former Presidential Adviser Ronald Llamas
  • Former 1-Rider Partylist Representative Bonifacio Bosita
  • Former COA Commissioner and professor Heidi Mendoza

The survey results reflect growing public sentiment for political renewal amid ongoing issues of governance and accountability.
