ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Edvic Yap has formally resigned as a member of the House of Representatives.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, Leyte 3rd District Representative Anna Veloso-Tuazon informed colleagues that the chamber had received Yap’s resignation letter.
“Mr. Speaker, for the information of the body, we are in receipt of a letter from Rep. Edvic Yap of ACT-CIS party-list informing the House of Representatives of his resignation as member of the House,” Tuazon announced.
She then moved for Yap’s removal from the official roster of House members.
Presiding officer Lanao del Sur 2nd District Representative Yasser Alonto Adiong granted the motion and directed House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil to drop Yap from the roll.
Yap, along with his brother Benguet Lone District Representative Eric Yap—who previously represented ACT-CIS—has been linked to controversial flood control projects that have drawn public scrutiny.
