The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has placed all its units on red alert, mobilizing disaster response teams nationwide to assist communities impacted by Super Typhoon Uwan.
Acting on the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr., the AFP ramped up its humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations to ensure swift rescue, relief, and recovery efforts.
“To quantify this commitment, the AFP has deployed a total of 243 search, rescue and retrieval teams to key areas, particularly in Northern and Central Luzon where the typhoon threat is highest,” the AFP said.
A total of 81 land assets have been deployed for HADR operations, while additional units and equipment remain on standby to reinforce ongoing efforts.
The AFP reaffirmed its close coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and local disaster risk reduction councils to maintain synchronized response and ensure the safety of affected residents.
