ALEX EALA BREAKS INTO WTA TOP 50

Filipino tennis star Alex Eala has reached a career milestone after climbing to a personal-best world No. 45 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.

The 20-year-old jumped four spots from No. 49 following her quarterfinal finish at the inaugural Philippine Women’s Open, continuing her steady rise on the professional tour.

The achievement makes Eala the first Filipino player to crack the WTA Top 50.

Her ranking surge reflects a strong start to the season, as consistent performances have translated into valuable ranking points and growing momentum on the global stage.

Fresh from the rankings update, Eala is set to return to action later tonight at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open.

She will face Turkey’s Zeynep Sönmez in the opening round of the WTA 500 tournament, offering an early test as she looks to sustain her breakthrough run.
