Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and 35 alleged cohorts are facing another wave of corruption charges after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed fresh complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman on Thursday.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the charges target Guo along with several former and incumbent Bamban officials accused of facilitating the questionable conversion of land now being used by a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO).
Investigators filed three criminal complaints, including violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and illegal possession of prohibited interest by a public officer. Alongside these, three administrative cases were lodged for gross misconduct, serious dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
Santiago revealed that the property in question, valued at ₱3.9 billion, was taxed at only ₱10,000 in real property dues—with zero taxes collected on the building erected on the site.
