A political analyst believes that Sara Duterte could still face defeat in a three-way contest in the 2028 presidential elections.
In a television interview, lawyer Jesus Falcis said the possibility of a one-on-one matchup—often preferred by traditional opposition groups—may not materialize.
He noted, however, that even in a three-cornered race, Duterte is not guaranteed victory.
“I think Sara Duterte is still beatable in a three-way fight. Because at most, she will get 33%. The other person can get 35%,” Falcis said.
Based on several pre-election surveys, Duterte is among the leading potential contenders for 2028, alongside Senator Raffy Tulfo and former vice president and now Naga City Mayor, Leni Robredo.
The analyst’s remarks come as early discussions and speculations continue to shape the possible lineup for the next presidential race.
