ATTY. CLAIRE CASTRO RETAINED AS PALACE PRESS OFFICER AFTER COURTESY RESIGNATION

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has confirmed that Atty. Claire Castro will remain in her post as Palace Press Officer.

This was confirmed by PCO Acting Secretary Dave Gomez in a message to reporters, weeks after Castro submitted her courtesy resignation on July 16.

Her resignation came following Gomez’s directive for all department officials to tender their courtesy resignations as part of an internal “re-organization.”

In Special Order No. 25-174, obtained by members of the media, Castro’s re-appointment to her position was affirmed, assigning her to clarify and communicate key government policies to the public.

“As such, Undersecretary Castro shall lead the coordination and delivery of official press briefings and media engagements on behalf of the Office of the President and the PCO,” Gomez stated.

He further commended her work, saying:

“She is doing a fine job!”

The PCO has not disclosed how many courtesy resignations it received or accepted as part of the reorganization.
