Authorities have alerted the public about a fake eGovPH app allegedly being used by scammers to steal personal information and commit fraud.
According to a Facebook post by eGovPH, scammers are impersonating officials and offering assistance for registration or verification through the supposed app.
They contact victims via calls, emails, or chat, urging them to download the fake application, submit personal details, and provide a live selfie.
“Delikado ito! Kapag nasunod mo ang steps nila, puwedeng makompromiso ang account mo at makuha ang laman ng iyong mobile wallets at digital banks. Ingat at huwag magpapadala sa mga nagpapanggap!” the advisory read.
The public is advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) or use the official eGovPH app only.
