Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga has once again issued a strong statement, alleging that the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was behind the fire that engulfed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)–Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS) office in Quezon City last Wednesday.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, October 23, Barzaga claimed that crucial evidence related to several lawmakers—including former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, Pasig Lone District Rep. Roman Romulo, Quezon City 1st District Rep. Arjo Atayde, and Quezon Province 2nd District Rep. Jay-Jay Suarez—was destroyed in the blaze.
“President Marcos has set the Quezon City’s DPWH office on fire,” Barzaga began.
“Evidence that would lead to the imprisonment of Congressman Martin Romualdez, Sandro Marcos, Roman Romulo, Arjo Atayde, and Jay-jay Suarez has been destroyed,” he continued.
Barzaga asserted that the fire was not accidental, claiming it was a deliberate act to conceal alleged anomalies. He said the incident only fueled public anger toward the current administration.
“And with it, the hope of the Filipino People in being given justice for all that was stolen from them. This action was not a mere accident, but a deliberate plan of Marcos and Romualdez to spare themselves from the anger of the people,” Barzaga said.
“The problem is this action has only caused the Filipino people to become more angry,” he added.
The lawmaker went further, warning that the alleged arson could trigger civil unrest and economic collapse if the government fails to address growing public outrage.
“We are on the brink of civil war and economic collapse, and the burning building of DPWH may become the catalyst towards a violent revolution for justice,” Barzaga warned.
“We hope we don’t reach that point. God bless the Philippines, God bless the Filipino people,” he concluded.
It can be recalled that Barzaga had earlier posted on Facebook, directly blaming the Marcos administration for the fire at the DPWH–BRS office in Quezon City on Wednesday, October 22.
His earlier post read: “Marcos Administration sets fire to DPWH Office to destroy Flood Control Anomaly Evidence.”
Barzaga alleged that the purpose of the fire was to erase documents and evidence linked to questionable flood control projects, a claim that remains unverified as of press time.
