BARZAGA RISKS EXTENDED SUSPENSION AMID NEW COMPLAINTS

Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga may face an extension of his 60-day suspension from the House of Representatives if his recent actions lead to another ethics complaint, Tingog Partylist Representative Jude Acidre said.

Barzaga, suspended last December 1 for being “guilty of disorderly behavior” over “reckless” and “inflammatory” social media posts, is set to return on January 30.

Acidre noted, “Unless there’s a new ethics complaint again that would fall (under any violation). But definitely, yung ginawa niya after na-impose ‘yung una niya suspension, will be taken into consideration should a 2nd ethics complaint be filed.”

The lawmaker, a political ally of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, added that Barzaga’s conduct during his suspension could be scrutinized if another case is filed.

Meanwhile, National Unity Party chairman and Antipolo City 1st District Representative Ronaldo Puno said the party is preparing around 40 libel and cyberlibel cases against Barzaga, who bolted the NUP in September 2025.

The neophyte legislator recently accused business tycoon Enrique Razon of bribing NUP members to support Romualdez—an allegation Puno branded “baseless, reckless, and malicious.” Razon has already filed a cyberlibel complaint.

Acidre also revealed that Barzaga’s controversial post about the late Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop may be included in the party’s complaints.
