Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga has formally announced that he will campaign for Vice President Sara Duterte should she run for president in the 2028 national elections.
In an interview, Barzaga confirmed his endorsement, saying he would not back former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo if she decides to run again, unlike his late father who supported her in 2022.
Barzaga also shared that he has yet to decide whether he will seek another term in Congress or pursue a local government position after 2028.
“That depends on how my term ends on what the situation would be. I’m not sure whether I would be running for Congress again or if I would be running again or for governor, vice [governor], mayor, anything,” he said.
“I do know that by 2028, I will be campaigning for Vice President Sara Duterte, because I already announced that,” he added.
Barzaga previously drew controversy in 2022 when he resisted his father’s endorsement of Robredo during the presidential race.
